Seeds of the Kingdom Daily Devotional 28 December 2021 MESSAGE
This morning, whilst out for my walk, I came across an old, withered half of a tree stump. The top of the tree had snapped off and there was only part of the tree left in the ground. It looked old and dead, but, coming up through the middle of the trunk was a branch, and on this branch were a few really green leaves. As I stood and looked at it, I felt God speak to me. He said, “I make all old things new”. I thought of the scripture verse above.
But I felt God was also saying that, though we can feel old and dead, He can bring life. He isn’t finished with us yet. No matter how old we get, He still uses us. The Bible says, ‘They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green’ (Psalm 92:14, NIV). God can and will use anyone, no matter what their age is. Older people can continue to have a fresh outlook and can teach from a lifetime of experience of serving God. They can challenge us to new heights of spiritual growth.
As I walked on, I came to the walled garden, and I just took my time as I strolled through it, being silent and waiting on the Lord. Out of the corner of my eye I saw something sparkle. I looked to see what it was, and it was green leaves with rain drops on them. I bent down to take a closer look. They were beautiful. The rain drops looked like diamonds, so clean and clear and sparkling in the light! I felt the Lord say that I am a diamond, refined, cleaned, shining in His light! I am beautiful and precious.
I continued my walk and came across some beautiful pink flowers. The details in these flowers were amazing. They were so delicately and wonderfully made. I felt the Lord say that I am fearfully and wonderfully made, not just my physical looks, but my innermost being, my heart and my character. How precious we are that God, our Father, took time with all the details! How precious we are to our Heavenly Father! ‘I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful. I know that full well’ (Psalm 139:14, NIV).
I spent the rest of my walk thanking God, and feeling so, so loved. I was overwhelmed with thoughts of His love, not just for me, but for all human beings of all ages. At home, I thought about those who need to know and feel His love. I know He is just waiting for them to come. What can we do? Well, we can pray for the Holy Spirit to save and transform their lives.

Prayer: Father God, I want to thank You that in Your kingdom You use everyone, no matter what their age is. Lord, I ask that You would use me today to show love, and to reach out to those who need You, and who need to feel Your love. I thank You that You love me. Amen.
