Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs. – Psalms 150:4

Read
Psalms 150:1-6
150 Praise ye the Lord. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power.

Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness.

Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp.

Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs.

Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals.

Let every thing that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord.

Open Heaven 10 December 2021  Message

Many people miss their blessings because they have not caught the revelation of the power in praise. You may even have seen some ministers and pastors coming into the sanctuary after the praise and worship session has ended. When you ask them as they sit comfortably in their Church office if they would be at the service, they would answer It is still the worship session; I’ll join in later. Any leader who trivialises praise and worship would not see the need to help equip the choir for inspirational ministrations.

Our Scripture reading for today is very instructive. It lists musical instruments we can use to offer high praises to our God: the trumpet, psaltery, harp and so on. The psalmist also qualifies the cymbals with which we should praise our God thus: loud and sounding. Thus, we can infer that our praises should be as loud as possible to the Almighty God.

The story of King Jehoshaphat and his encounter with the three allied forces who had come to attack him also shows the importance of having well-equipped choristers. Beloved, when our praise to the Lord goes up, He sends down victory to the Church. Thus, we would not need to fight at all as He would always fight on our behalf.

2 Chronicles 20:17 says: “Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the Lord with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; to morrow go out against them: for the Lord will be with you.”

Jehoshaphat appointed singers solely to sing praises to the Lord (2 Chronicles 20:21)! How beautiful would it be if our pastors engage some choristers on a full-time basis to sing God’s praises whether there is a congregational service or not. It yields results! An example is in 2 Chronicles 20:22.

We must pay good attention to equipping our Choir, Christian orchestra and praise singers because they too are God’s ministers with divine power to deliver victory to the Body of Christ. Beginning from today, let us commit to giving them the necessary support and instruments so we all can praise the Lord effectively.

Whether you are a pastor, minister, worker or member of the congregation, make a commitment to help equip your Church choir, from today.

HYMN: Ho! my comrades, see the signal

1. Ho! my comrades, see the signal,
Waving in the sky!
Reinforcements now appearing,
Victory is nigh!

CHORUS
“Hold the fort, for I am coming,”
Jesus signals still,
Wave the answer back to Heaven,
“By Thy grace we will.

2. See the mighty host advancing,
Satan leading on;
Mighty men around us falling,
Courage almost gone.

3. See the glorious banner waving,
Hear the bugle blow;
In our Leader’s Name we triumph
Over every foe.

4. Fierce and long the battle rages,
But our help is near;
Onward comes our great Commander,
Cheer, my comrades, cheer!
