TOPIC: When Divine Favour Is At Work
Fire Scripture: 2 Samuel 9:1-8
9 And David said, Is there yet any that is left of the house of Saul, that I may shew him kindness for Jonathan’s sake?
2 And there was of the house of Saul a servant whose name was Ziba. And when they had called him unto David, the king said unto him, Art thou Ziba? And he said, Thy servant is he.
3 And the king said, Is there not yet any of the house of Saul, that I may shew the kindness of God unto him? And Ziba said unto the king, Jonathan hath yet a son, which is lame on his feet.
4 And the king said unto him, Where is he? And Ziba said unto the king, Behold, he is in the house of Machir, the son of Ammiel, in Lodebar.
5 Then king David sent, and fetched him out of the house of Machir, the son of Ammiel, from Lodebar.
6 Now when Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, was come unto David, he fell on his face, and did reverence. And David said, Mephibosheth. And he answered, Behold thy servant!
7 And David said unto him, Fear not: for I will surely shew thee kindness for Jonathan thy father’s sake, and will restore thee all the land of Saul thy father; and thou shalt eat bread at my table continually.
8 And he bowed himself, and said, What is thy servant, that thou shouldest look upon such a dead dog as I am?
MEMORY VERSE: “For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.” – Romans 9:15-16
MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:
To be favoured is to enter into the covenant of goodness with God.
PRAISE WORSHIP: Take a worship song as led by the Holy Spirit
MFM Daily Devotional 26 June 2021 Outline
The Merriam Webster Dictionary defines favour as “friendly regard shown towards another especially by a superior.” Favour can also be defined as gracious kindness, or something done or granted out of goodwill rather than for justice or remuneration.
Divine favour is the kindness or graciousness showered on someone by God. The word “divine” means heavenly or from the throne of grace. Our Fire Scripture for today reveals that David asked for anyone that was remaining in the family of Saul so that he could show him kindness because of Jonathan who was his friend, and Mephibosheth, Jonathan’s son who was lame in the feet, was still alive and available.
Beloved, David showed kindness to the household of Saul because of the oath he took with Jonathan to always show kindness to each other (1 Samuel 20:11-23). May you and your household receive divine favour that will never diminish, in Jesus’ name.
When the favour of God visits you, all human laws will become irrelevant because God is at work. Divine favour goes hand in hand with kindness, mercy, grace and help that have no end. Mephibosheth received favour of God through David and he was eating at the king’s table and all the estate of his family was restored to him.
You can receive similar treatment and even more. God did it for the Shunammite woman (2 Kings 8:1-6). Elisha told her there would be famine and that she should go and sojourn in another land. At the end of seven years, when she came back, her farms, estate and properties were handed over to her with interest. God can do more for you if you come back to Him today.
Beloved, when the favour of God is at work in your life, what is impossible for others becomes possible for you. The reason is that heaven is ever interested in your affairs and is always supporting and helping you. God’s favour is exclusively for His children. You must be born again and living righteously to enjoy supernatural favour.
Prophetic Word: Any dangerous spirit that has attacked your life shall catch fire in the name of Jesus.
PRAYER POINTS:
