MFM Daily Devotional May 3, 2022 MESSAGE

We noted yesterday that Enoch pleased God and went to heaven without tasting death. What an honour! Apostle Paul also pleased God and assured us that he was going to heaven and that a crown awaited him there. These examples tell us that there are great benefits for every believer that pleases God. Let us examine some of them.

The first benefit of pleasing God is that it makes you Christlike. An important duty of a believer or disciple is to imitate Christ or become like Him. In John 8:29, the Bible reveals that Jesus said He was always doing the things that please the Father; hence, the Father was always with Him. This explains why the Father Himself said of Jesus, “This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased.” Truly, if you devote your life to pleasing God always, you will also receive the benefit of divine commendation.

The second benefit of pleasing God is that it gives us security. Proverbs 16:7 says, “When a man’s ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.” Similarly, for a believer, the gains of pleasing the Lord include divine favour (Genesis 4:4), divine protection (Psalm 121:4; John 17:11; 2 Timothy 1:12), divine peace (Psalm 29:11) and divine blessing (Psalm 5:12).

Another benefit of pleasing God is that it portrays a Christian as being dutiful and successful. The Bible regards pleasing God as an important duty of a Christian and the aim of the true minister of the gospel. In 1 Thessalonians 2:4, the Bible says, “But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, which trieth our hearts.” 1 Thessalonians 4:1 adds, “Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more.” Beloved, when you devote your life to pleasing God, you will continually flourish more and more and enjoy preservation in the Lord. I encourage you to make pleasing God your ultimate goal this year. God bless you, immensely, in Jesus’ name.
