MFM Daily Devotional May 15, 2022 MESSAGE
The Holy Spirit comes to indwell us immediately we give our lives to Christ and His work in our lives is for a life time. He is our constant Helper, reminding us who we are in Christ and equipping us for each day’s challenges. We do not have to struggle through life by our own strength and wisdom if we obey Him. And when we commit sin, He immediately convicts us so we can confess and receive forgiveness (1 John 1:9). Having Him as our ever-present Helper and Companion, we must be careful to play by the rules. The Holy Spirit of God cannot be living in us and we behave carelessly and become unruly. No, it does not work that way.
The Holy Spirit is a person and not an inanimate object. Walking contrary to the leading of the Holy Spirit is walking against God. The Holy Spirit can be hurt and even offended. He can be grieved. That is why in Ephesians 4:30, the Bible says, “And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.”
Beloved, there are grave consequences when you grieve the Holy Spirit. Matthew 12:31-32 says, “And so I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.”
When you act against the Holy Spirit, the Bible says, your sins shall not be forgiven forever. Anyone whose sins cannot be forgiven is already doomed. Therefore, we must never allow our situation to get beyond redemption through grieving the Holy Spirit.
