MFM Daily Devotional 8 November 2024 Message

Man by nature is a creature of dependence. Nobody can go through life without depending on somebody for survival at one point in time. He either depends on God, people or the devil for survival and success in his journey in life. However, the true test of a man’s dependence on God can be deduced from his ability to call unto God when he is faced with challenging circumstances and situations.

The Fire Scripture today reveals a very interesting story that has to do with the servant of Abraham. He was saddled with the responsibility of finding a wife for his master’s son. This was a herculean task for this man because he was going to be his master’s eye to make a decision that would either make or mar the life of his master’s son.

Considering the enormity of the responsibility ahead of him, he had to turn to God for divine assistance and support in order to succeed in this assignment. The Fire Scripture above reveals the content and the depth of the prayer he offered to God.

The result of his prayer was amazing because God met him at his level. The situation that brought answer to his prayer played out just as he prayed to God. It was as if it was a coincidence when the answer to his prayer came knocking at his doorstep. This is what we experience when we decide to turn to God for help when we are faced with a challenging situation.

This reminds me of the story of Richard Trench, the Archbishop of Dublin. It was reported that he was confronted by a skeptic who questioned his testimonies of answered prayer. “Your answers to prayer are nothing but coincidences,” scoffed the skeptic. “Whether my answers to prayer are coincidences or not, I know not,” Trench promptly replied. “I only know this: The more I pray, the more coincidences I have, and the less I pray, the less coincidences I have.” With a smile he concluded, “So I will just keep on praying and watch all these coincidences keep on happening.”

Beloved, this is the truth about spending time to pray about situations of our lives. Prayer gives God the opportunity to interfere and intervene in the affairs of our lives.
