MFM Daily Devotional 6 May 2023 MESSAGE
God has the prerogative of time. He owns it and teaches us how to use and manage it effectively. There are many teachings on effective time management, but it would be wise to accept the fact that we cannot use or manage time effectively until it has been surrendered to God. That is, we must be divinely led and guided on how to use our time wisely. Many people get depressed just at the mere sight of their heavily loaded daily schedules or assignments within a limited time. Some put in efforts to achieve all, or as much as they can, while some others are crumbling under the weight of the pressure of work, constraints, deadlines and all.
Lots of people experience terrible stress disorders as a result of their work load. Added to this are family demands, immediate and extended, church activities and other societal needs. As children of God who desire to do their duties diligently and maintain a balanced life (physically and spiritually), what should we do? We need to seek and use the wisdom of God, else we risk running a useless race and at the end falling ill or losing out. This can be very frustrating!
How then do we start to redeem the time as believers in Christ? Taking a cue from today’s memory verse, it is important to get back to God to teach us how to number our days. It is amazing to hear the Bible say that a thousand days in His sight is just like a day. It is only in God and through Christ that we can regulate our speed to achieve the purpose for which we are created. The race is not for the swift, nor the battle for the mighty. God controls the pace. Let us, therefore, begin our day and usage of time by seeking His leading and counsel. Avoid being lazy and visionless. It leads to time wastage. Plan your day, set priorities and be diligent.
Begin a simple practice of committing your daily activities to the hands of the Holy Spirit. You will be surprised how He will manage the day and time effectively for you.
