Another benefit of fasting we want to look at today is the power that comes with fasting. Jesus made a profound statement to His disciples in today’s fire scripture, “And he said unto them, this kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting “(Mark 9:29). It is established here by Jesus that to receive power for miracles, fasting must be involved. The disciples, until this time, had not known about fasting or got involved in it. So, after Jesus dealt with the foul spirit in the life of the boy, they came to find out from Him why they could not do it. Jesus told them that they needed to have fasted to deal with some spiritual issues.

Dearly beloved, this is why we see miracles, divine turn around and mysterious healing when people come to take part in our three days’ dry fasts, during deliverance sessions. Fasting will grant you power over evil spirits and sicknesses that are demon-inspired. Spiritual stamina is what everybody should desire; you build up your spiritual power when you fast.

Are you having challenges which have defied solutions? Or do you have recurring problems? It will go for a season, only for it to surface at another time. You must engage yourself in fasting. The Bible says in Joel Chapter 2:12, “Therefore also now, saith the Lord, turn ye even to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping and with mourning.”

Another benefit of fasting is that it draws you closer to God. Similarly, it gives you power over spirits of lack, failure, get and lose and evil dreams. All these dreams and spirits waging war against you can equally be dealt with when you move close to God through prayer and fasting. Therefore, the benefits of fasting cannot be overemphasised. If you have not started, you need to set aside a day or two in a week to seek the face of God.
