TOPIC: Renewed Fellowship

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Isaiah 17; Isaiah 18; Matthew 27; Matthew 28

FIRE SCRIPTURE: John 21:1-19
21 After these things Jesus shewed himself again to the disciples at the sea of Tiberias; and on this wise shewed he himself.

There were together Simon Peter, and Thomas called Didymus, and Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two other of his disciples.

Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee. They went forth, and entered into a ship immediately; and that night they caught nothing.

But when the morning was now come, Jesus stood on the shore: but the disciples knew not that it was Jesus.

Then Jesus saith unto them, Children, have ye any meat? They answered him, No.

And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes.

Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved saith unto Peter, It is the Lord. Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he girt his fisher’s coat unto him, (for he was naked,) and did cast himself into the sea.

And the other disciples came in a little ship; (for they were not far from land, but as it were two hundred cubits,) dragging the net with fishes.

As soon then as they were come to land, they saw a fire of coals there, and fish laid thereon, and bread.

10 Jesus saith unto them, Bring of the fish which ye have now caught.

11 Simon Peter went up, and drew the net to land full of great fishes, an hundred and fifty and three: and for all there were so many, yet was not the net broken.

12 Jesus saith unto them, Come and dine. And none of the disciples durst ask him, Who art thou? knowing that it was the Lord.

13 Jesus then cometh, and taketh bread, and giveth them, and fish likewise.

14 This is now the third time that Jesus shewed himself to his disciples, after that he was risen from the dead.

15 So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs.

16 He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep.

17 He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.

18 Verily, verily, I say unto thee, When thou wast young, thou girdest thyself, and walkedst whither thou wouldest: but when thou shalt be old, thou shalt stretch forth thy hands, and another shall gird thee, and carry thee whither thou wouldest not.

19 This spake he, signifying by what death he should glorify God. And when he had spoken this, he saith unto him, Follow me.

MEMORY VERSE
But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
Isaiah 40:31

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTES: When a Christian begins to shun fellowship with other Christians, not reading the Bible or praying, it gives the devil cause to rejoice.

PRAISE AND WORSHIP: Take praise and worship songs as led by the Holy Spirit.

PROPHETIC WORD FOR TODAY: I decree death upon lukewarmness in your spiritual life today, in the name of Jesus.

MFM Daily Devotional 5 September 2024 MESSAGE

Today’s message calls every Christian back to the place of fellowship and spiritual renewal. It is believed that as we look inwards personally, we shall be able to address the issue of getting renewed through fellowshipping with other Christians as the Bible counsels us in Heb.10:25.

Are you born again, but you suddenly discover that you are drifting back for a reason, or your love for Christ is waxing cold? Perhaps, you don’t even see it. You can’t feel the zeal with which you started.

I beseech you not to despair, but to make instant efforts to get to the place of renewal, re-enacting your life and commitment to Jesus Christ. He knows our feeble frame. He knows that weakness, lukewarmness, failure and seeming disloyalty loom around you as a Christian.

He knows where and how to come in and help you get back to your feet and to the place of communion and fellowship as from the beginning. Be encouraged, therefore; be lifted in your spirit; Jesus never forsakes His own.

READ MFM Daily Devotional 4 September 2024 – Ageing Gracefully (II)

Going through today’s Fire Scripture, we see the one-time firebrand disciples of Jesus drifting back into their former business. Remember, Jesus made them “fishers of men” out of ordinary fishermen.

Unfortunately, the weakness of the human mind is taking them back to who they were before they encountered Christ. What a tragedy! No wonder, they sweated and struggled without results! Thank God for Jesus who loved them. He didn’t want them to continue in error with unending profitless struggles.

He didn’t want them to miss out on the promise of life, after being so close to Him, the Giver of life. He stepped into their situation and helped them to see once again that without Him, we can do nothing (John 15: 4-5). He told them to relaunch their nets, and at His word they experienced a great catch!

Beyond that instant success, Jesus had fellowship with them again. He dined with them. What a demonstration of love! Jesus is always willing to restore you and get back to the place of fellowship with you, so that you receive fresh grace and renewed strength. You are encouraged and fully equipped to bounce back. I pray that you shall not miss this divine opportunity, in Jesus’ name.
