Topic: Spiritual Growth (1)
Fire Scripture
John 15: 1-10
15 I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.
2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.
3 Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.
4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
6 If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.
7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
8 Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.
9 As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.
10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.
2 Pet. 3:18 -But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.
MFM Daily Devotional 3 July 2021 Outline
Growth is a constant phenomenon to survival in life. There is a time to be born and a time time to die, a time to plant and a time of harvest (Eccl.3: 1-11). In between these periods is the growth of every living thing, even man himself. Without growth, there is no old age; without growth, farmers need not be hopeful of harvest. Any life that fails to grow will definitely be stagnant, stunted, decay and the final result is death.
No growth, no life! Jesus Christ used many true life situations to teach us the truth about the gospel, and what is required of us as Christians. It is not enough to get born again; you are required to grow in grace and into the full stature of Christ. This simply implies that, following your salvation experience, you must seek to grow like a child. Jesus calls on every believer to come to Him with a childlike spirit, an innocent, submissive and non-offensive spirit.
If then you come to Him like a child, automatically you are expected to experience a gradual growth into full adult in the things of the Spirit. These include your faith. Even if it is as small as mustard seed, when you put it into action, it will bring forth mighty miracles. Also your level of love matters. You will move from the human kind of love to God kind of love, that is Agape love, the selfless and unconditional love. Your faith provokes hope even when the situation is hopeless.

But the truth is that all these are not possible within your human capabilities. You need grace, that divine enabling power. This is determined by how much of God that is in you, His word, and how intimate you are with Jesus. According to our fire scripture, we are branches of the Vine. Jesus is the Vine. Our heavenly Father is the Husbandman. As a branch, you are expected to bring forth fruits. Failure to do so will bring the judgement of being cut off and cast into fire. May this not be your portion, in Jesus’ name.
Not only that, even the fruitful ones shall be divinely pruned so that they can be more productive. Note, dearly beloved, you cannot produce fruits except there is a healthy growth. My candid questions are as follows: are you really growing since you gave your life to Christ? Have you been bringing forth fruits?
Or you are like that fig tree that Jesus cursed for looking so good but fruitless? Do your fruits abide in the Lord? These are questions you alone can answer, but I pray that wherever you are falling short of divine expectations, the mercy of God shall speak for you, in Jesus’ name.
Motivational Quote
Where there is no growth, death is imminent.
Prophetic Word
I prophesy that the divine investment in your life shall not be a waste, in the name of Jesus.
HYMN
Awaked from sleep we fall
Awaked from sleep we fall
Before thee, God of love,
And chant the praise the angels raise,
O God of might, above:
Holy, Holy, Holy! Thou art God adored!
In thy pitying mercy show us mercy, Lord.
As at thy call I rise,
Shine on this mind and heart,
And touch my tongue, that I among
Thy choir may take my part:
Holy, Holy, Holy! Trinity adored!
In thy pitying mercy show us mercy, Lord
The Judge will come with speed,
And each man’s deeds be known;
Our trembling cry shall rise on high
At midnight to thy throne:
Holy, Holy, Holy! King of Saints adored!
In the hour of judgement show us mercy, Lord.
