TOPIC: Just say, Thank You Jesus!
FIRE SCRIPTURE: Ezekiel 37:1-10
37 The hand of the Lord was upon me, and carried me out in the spirit of the Lord, and set me down in the midst of the valley which was full of bones,
2 And caused me to pass by them round about: and, behold, there were very many in the open valley; and, lo, they were very dry.
3 And he said unto me, Son of man, can these bones live? And I answered, O Lord God, thou knowest.
4 Again he said unto me, Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the Lord.
5 Thus saith the Lord God unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live:
6 And I will lay sinews upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and ye shall live; and ye shall know that I am the Lord.
7 So I prophesied as I was commanded: and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and behold a shaking, and the bones came together, bone to his bone.
8 And when I beheld, lo, the sinews and the flesh came up upon them, and the skin covered them above: but there was no breath in them.
9 Then said he unto me, Prophesy unto the wind, prophesy, son of man, and say to the wind, Thus saith the Lord God; Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live.
10 So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood up upon their feet, an exceeding great army.

Today’s devotional is a call to an attitude of gratitude to God Almighty, irrespective of your age, status, spirituality, colour or race. As long as you are a living being, why not stop whatever you may be doing at intervals during the day, not only during the morning or night prayers; take a pause even now, and say, “THANK YOU JESUS!
You may wonder in your mind, “But I said it this morning.” That could even be minutes or hours ago. It can’t ever be too much. Can you imagine how many people have stopped breathing within that same period of time? You don’t need to rationalise it. Just say it! Perhaps you haven’t said it today or you are not even in the habit of doing so. As a child of God, I advise you this morning that you begin to covet and put into it a practice in your day-to-day, hour-to-hour activities.

Thanking God cannot be overemphasised, especially because of the unquantifiable and priceless gift of the Breath of life! Without this breath, man is nothing but the dust of the earth, lifeless and useless like the idols of wood and iron that ignorant people worship. They have forgotten the Creator, who made us and breathe His breath into us (Genesis 2:7).
In today’s Fire Scripture, though the dry bones were covered with tendons and sinews and flesh, something crucial was missing. There was no life in them. God had to breathe upon them before they became living beings. The Breath makes the difference between the living and the dead.
A visit to the hospitals to see the travails of fellow humans, who have to perpetually live on oxygen for survival, will make many to appreciate God more. Our Maker, the Giver of life, who has given us the divine privilege to be alive at no cost at all, deserves our sacrifice of thanksgiving all the time. Unfortunately, many people don’t do this! They assume that they are alive because of whatever medications or health precautions they have taken. No, beloved!
If not for this Breath of life, we would have ceased to exist, our efforts to remain alive notwithstanding. This reality should humble us and drive us back to God in reverence and worship, praising and thanking Him for what He alone can do.

1. Spirit of ingratitude depart from me, in the name of Jesus.
2. Power to appreciate and praise God every moment of my life, come upon me now, in the name of Jesus.
