MFM Daily Devotional 26 November 2021 Outline
The Bible urges believers to walk in the Spirit so as not to fulfil the lust of the flesh. Whatever you do that is not of faith or love is a work of the flesh. It is sad that many people who go to church are unable to win the battle of the flesh. The flesh is so strong that it always pulls people away from God.
All the flesh wants is comfort, entertainment and pleasure, nothing else. This is why those who walk in the flesh cannot please God. This is why fellowship with God is needed on a daily basis so that the blood of Jesus will cleanse us from the lust of the flesh. The flesh is the carnal nature of man that is only required for use on earth; therefore, genuine Christians must not pamper the flesh.
In Gal. 5:19-21, Apostle Paul states the works of the flesh. As a child of God, avoid the following things as much as possible: unforgiving spirit, bitterness, ungodly criticism, uncontrollable emotions, rebellion to authority, hypocrisy, deceit, boasting, greed, pride, quarrel, lust for anything, abusive tendencies, etc.
Those who do these things cannot please God. The Holy Spirit is far from them. They are impure. They lack holy fire. Their prayer altars are dead. They are spiritually blind. They face rejection and hatred. Demons use their bodies to launch satanic attacks. They cannot inherit the kingdom of God.
Beloved, it is your responsibility to crucify or mortify your flesh. You should pray for the fruit of the spirit called temperance or self-control. Those who are controlled by flesh are known by works of the flesh that their lives and character reveal. It is better to kill the flesh before it kills you. It is the enemy of everything spiritually good and rewarding.
It pulls you in a direction opposite the one God has chosen for your good. That is why you cannot pamper or condone its activities. Regular study of the word as well as meditation in it, fasting and praying as well as having regular retreat to be alone with God for recharging and reviving your spirit, soul and body are all important to strengthen the spirit and subdue the flesh.
