TOPIC: Be Steadfast III
FIRE SCRIPTURE
Hebrews 10:38-39
38 Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.
39 But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.
MEMORY VERSE
God’s peace in not calm after the storm. It is the steadfastness during it.
MFM Daily Devotional 24th August 2021 Outline
Lack of steadfastness has made many Christians to draw back. Drawing back includes compromise, backsliding and even outright apostasy. May this not be your lot, in the name of Jesus. Your faith in Christ must be rock-solid and unwavering if you want to be steadfast. That is why the enemy attacks the faith of believers. Let your heart be established with grace and reject diverse and strange doctrines that the enemy uses to mislead people from the way of the Lord.
When the word of God richly dwells in you and you are prayerful, the Holy Spirit will help you to recognise or decipher the lies and deceits of the enemy. In our Hebrews 10:38-39, the Bible identifies two categories of people: those who draw back. These are those who learnt the truth of God’s word but still allow the devil to deceive and mislead them to the extent that they looked back and went back from the Lord. You will not lose your faith in Jesus’ name.
Some of such people did not only backslide (fall into sin and error), but they forsook the Lord completely, surrendering their soul to end in hell fire. That is the first category. The second category refers to those who believe to the saving of soul. Of course the reward of believing Christ to the end is salvation of your soul, the crown of life and reigning with Him in heaven. Those who draw back have simply chosen the way of perdition and eternity in hell! That is why God enjoins us (believers) to live by faith and not by sight.
He added that His pleasure, peace, love, favour and blessings are not with anyone who backslides. Beloved, God exhorts all believers to be steadfast. Double-mindedness, inconsistency and instability are unacceptable to Him. Half-heartedness and indecision are also similar to unbelief, as far as He is concerned. I pray that the devil will not pluck you out of the hand of Christ, in Jesus’s name.
MEMORY VERSE: God’s peace in not calm after the storm. It is the steadfastness during it.
MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE: God’s peace in not calm after the storm. It is the steadfastness during it.
PROPHETIC WORD: The spirit of error and drawing back is hereby banished from your life permanently, in the name of Jesus.
HYMN: Because He Lives I Can Face Tomorrow
1. God sent His Son, they called Him Jesus;
He came to love, heal and forgive;
He lived and died to buy my pardon.
An empty grave is there to prove my Saviour lives.
Chorus
Because He lives I can face tomorrow;
Because He lives all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future,
And life is worth the living just because He lives.
2. How sweet to hold a new born baby,
And feel the pride and joy he gives;
But greater still the calm assurance,
This child can face uncertain days because He lives
3. And then one day I’ll cross the river;
I’ll fight life’s final war with pain;
And then as death gives way to vict’ry,
I’ll see the lights of glory and I’ll know He lives.
