MFM Daily Devotional 16 April 2025 Message
Eleazar was one of the sons of Aaron the high priest. He came to prominence after the deaths of his brothers, Nadab and Abihu, who presented strange fire to God and got an instant judgment of death by fire. The life of Eleazar offers valuable lessons that resonate with believers today.
The first thing that strikes every reader of the Bible is the fact that Eleazar did not follow in the footsteps of his elder brothers. He decided to be different and served the Lord faithfully as a priest. Here are some key lessons we can glean from his life:
1) Faithfulness and Dedication: Eleazar demonstrated unwavering faithfulness and dedication to his duties as a priest. Throughout his life, he faithfully served God and His people, fulfilling his responsibilities with integrity and devotion. He eventually became the head of all the Levites and was put in charge of the workings of the Tabernacle (Numbers 3:32; 4:16).

While the Israelites wandered in the wilderness, Eleazar was responsible for offering sacrifices on behalf of the people (Numbers 19:1-8). When Korah, Dathan, and Abiram gathered 250 men and rebelled against Moses, God judged them by sending fire to consume them (Numbers 16:35). Eleazar was given the unpleasant job of sifting through the ashes to gather the censers the men had used to burn the incense.
The censers were to be melted down, hammered into sheets, and used to overlay the altar in the tabernacle.
2) Integrity and Loyalty: Eleazar remained loyal to God and His appointed leaders, faithfully carrying out his responsibilities even in challenging circumstances. He stood firm in his convictions and did not waver in his commitment to God’s laws (Numbers 25:7-8; Joshua 24:33).
3) Inheritance of Blessings: Eleazar received blessings and promises from God for his faithful service (Joshua 21:1-3; 24:33). Indeed, God rewards every faithful servant in His kingdom service. The lessons from Eleazar’s life inspire us to remain steadfast, courageous, and obedient in our walk with God.
