TOPIC: Spiritual Stamina (I)

Fire Scripture: Gal. 6:7-10

Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.

And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

10 As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.

MFM Daily Devotional 14th July 2021 Outline

Stamina is the ability to sustain prolonged physical or mental effort. Spiritual stamina then, is the ability to stay in power with God. It is spiritual staying power. It is every activity of endurance that will lead you to total spiritual fitness. Proverbs 24:10 says, “If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small.” Adversity is a difficult or unpleasant situation, and in this world Jesus told us that there will be tribulations, and a lot of horrible things too, but we should be of good cheers for He (Jesus) has overcome the world (Jn.16:33).

Because we face challenges every day, it is important that we work on our spiritual stamina every day. When we develop spiritual stamina, the false traditions of the world, as well as our personal daily challenges, will have little or no negative impact on our ability to endure in righteousness. We need spiritual stamina or staying power in order to stay true to our faith and calling through all the ups and downs in life.

Spiritual stamina is weathering through adverse conditions till its expiration. 2 Tim. 2:3 says, “Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.” The life you live is a report card of your spiritual stamina. The way you do things reveals your strength spiritually. Spiritual stamina is revealed in different believers’ lifestyle such prayer life, level of holiness, ability to resist temptation, brokenness, studying the Bible, fasting, tolerance, giving, service, offences, etc.

As Christians we are called to be long distance mountain marathon runners – not just short distance sprinters. Just as an athlete needs to build up his muscles and aerobic fitness, developing the strength and stamina for the endurance needed, so we need to stretch our faith, our devotion, our obedience and skills.

Christians need to stretch minds and muscles, escape from comfort zones and persevere – keep on keeping on – fighting the good fight of faith. The truth, beloved, is that the spiritual exercises that birth spiritual stamina have to be done consistently over an appreciable period of time for them to yield great results. That calls for discipline.

Memory Verse: Pro. 24:10 – If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small.

Motivational Quote: Spiritual stamina is going with God all the way through.

Prophetic Word: You shall not be a casualty in the battle field of spiritual warfare, in the name of Jesus.

HYMN: Serving Him truly

1. It pays to serve Jesus, I speak from my heart;
He’ll always be with us if we do our part;
There’s naught in this wide world can pleasure afford,
There’s peace and contentment ‘in serving the Lord.’

2. And oft when I’m tempted to turn from the track,
I think of my Saviour, my mind wanders back
To the place where they nail’d Him on Calvary’s tree
I hear a voice saying: I suffer’d for thee.

3. A place I remember where I was set free,
‘Twas where I found pardon, a heaven to me;
There Jesus spoke sweetly to my weary soul,
My sins were forgiven, He made my heart whole.
