MFM Daily Devotional 13 March 2022 MESSAGE
We are looking at the issue of teamwork. I would like you to note that in team work and team building, the cost of disunity far outweighs that of unity. Our ultimate example on healthy teamwork is our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
Jesus had His disciples in different categories, yet they are called to do the same work: spread the good news of salvation, heal the sick and deliver all those who are oppressed. Peter, James and John went with Him to the Mount of Transfiguration. These three could be called the inner caucus; yet they are part of the twelve. The Bible also affirms the ministry of the seventy in Matthew 10, while the book of Acts 1:13-15 refers to the 120 who were busy praying in the Upper Room before the descent of the Holy Ghost at Pentecost.
What is the significance of this? If Jesus did not walk or work alone, how then can any child of God detest or despise teamwork. Greater success is achieved when you have healthy and godly team players around you. When iron sharpens iron, you have a super sharp object in your hands. It reduces your burden, inject diverse helpful ideas and innovation into the work at hand, and gives room for contributions to enhance and impact lives.
Apostle Paul was another man who worked with different groups of people at different times to achieve success in ministry, expanding the kingdom of God in the uttermost part of the earth as said by Jesus in Acts 1:8. From Barnabas, John Mark, Timothy, Titus, Apollo, Aquila and Priscilla, Phoebe, Epaphras and many in Romans 16, and as his practice was in salutation to brethren in his epistles.
Jesus never cast anyone away except the son of perdition. Wherever there was dispute, which cannot but happen sometimes, Paul was quick to resolve it and relationship was restored. These are examples for us to follow in establishing a healthy team and do a good teamwork. As a Christian, we should not be ignorant of the antics of the devil; hence the place of prayer should not be taken for granted. For the unity of brethren to stand in scriptures, the book of Acts showed us how prayer of agreement was a powerful weapon to overcome opposition and oppression.
As we learn from this Bible examples, the Lord will enable us to dwell and work amicably with others for greater success, in Jesus’ name.
