MFM Daily Devotional 11 August 2022 MESSAGE

When Job’s hedge of protection was removed, the enemy afflicted him with a terrible ailment: his children died and his business empire crumbled. He also lost his financial empire, social status and spiritual strength. The enemy reduced him to a shadow of his former self. I pray that God’s hedge of protection around you will never be broken, in the name of Jesus. What can a believer do to break the protective hedge of God around him or her?

The first thing that can breach the hedge around you is sin or rebellion. The truth is that there is no hedge around Christians who live in sin and rebellion. You are safe in grace and unsafe in sin! The second thing that can breach the hedge around you is wrong confession. That was the tragic flaw of Job. Instead of speaking faith-filled words always, he continually spoke words of unbelief and fear. Those negative words broke the hedge around his life.

Job 3:23-26 affirms this, “Why is light given to a man whose way is hid, and whom God hath hedged in? For my sighing cometh before I eat, and my roarings are poured out like the waters. For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me. I was not in safety, neither had I rest, neither was I quiet; yet trouble came.” These negative confessions of Job were his undoing. Learn a lesson from this. Talk right. Have faith, not fear.

When the Bible says the hedge is removed, it actually means the presence of the Lord leaves. Self-will and disobedience in Saul caused the Lord to reject him. In 1 Samuel 16:14, 15, the Bible says, “But the Spirit of the Lord departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the Lord troubled him. And Saul’s servants said unto him, Behold now, an evil spirit from God troubleth thee.”

Saul broke God’s covenant and died in battle along with his sons as if he was never anointed. This was also the case with Samson. The hedge around him was removed because the Lord departed from him when he went deep into fornication, lost his guard and the enemy came in through Delilah to empty him of his uncommon divine strength. Do not toy with sin!
