MFM Daily Devotional 11 August 2021 MESSAGE
Life is full of ups and downs. Leaders who persevere and display resilience are usually outstanding. When adversity comes and everyone thinks they will give up and go down into extinction, great leaders have a way of bouncing back. This is one of the greatest leadership traits especially in this age of global economic recession, political challenges and the time in church history called the end times.
Someone said that success is not in never falling but rising each time you fall. Peter, the most well-known disciple of Jesus Christ exemplified the truth that leaders recover from failure. He had denied knowing Jesus three times while Jesus was being crucified, though he had told Jesus that, even if it meant having to die, he would never deny Him. When Peter realised his misdeed, he wept bitterly.
In Acts 2, the same Peter gave the first sermon after Jesus’ ascension into heaven and thousands of people heard him and were added to the Lord. The leadership lesson here is that leaders don’t become discouraged when they fail. They don’t wallow in self-pity and give up due to the mishap. They pick themselves back up and continue on. Leaders do better next time.
Have you at any time failed in your spiritual walk, leadership assignment or career? Consider it a comma, not a full stop in your life. It is not the end of your story. When you are knocked down, get up and continue with your eyes set on victory and success. Do not give up. If you have to confess your sins, do so and repent from the unrighteous ways. Tell the Holy Spirit to help you.
Thank God that Peter did not give up. Nobody knew that the most glorious part of his ministry laid ahead. Thank God that Paul of Tarsus did not end as a persecutor of the church. We would have missed an extraordinary apostle and ministry.
Beloved, no matter what the enemy throws at you, pray for the power to bounce back and be better.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR
Jeremiah 30-31
MFM Daily Devotional 11 August 2021 Hymn:
Ho, my comrades! see the signa
- Ho, my comrades! see the signa
Waving in the sky!
Reinforcements now appearing,
Victory is nigh!
CHORUS
“Hold the fort, for I am coming,”
Jesus signals still;
Wave the answer back to heaven,
“By Thy grace we will.”
Satan leading on:
Mighty men around us falling, Courage almost gone!
See the glorious banner waving!
Hear the trumpet blow!
In our Leader’s name we’ll triumph
Over ev’ry foe!
Fierce and long the battle rages,
But our help is near:
Onward comes our great Commander,
Cheer, my comrades, cheer!
