TODAY’S MFM DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR THURSDAY 10TH JUNE 2021 WRITTEN BY PASTOR DR D. K. OLUKOYA

TOPIC: FAITH WITHOUT WORKS (II)

Fire Scripture: Hebrews 11:25-34

25 Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season;

26 Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward.

27 By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible.

28 Through faith he kept the passover, and the sprinkling of blood, lest he that destroyed the firstborn should touch them.

29 By faith they passed through the Red sea as by dry land: which the Egyptians assaying to do were drowned.

30 By faith the walls of Jericho fell down, after they were compassed about seven days.

31 By faith the harlot Rahab perished not with them that believed not, when she had received the spies with peace.

32 And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets:

33 Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions.

34 Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.

MFM Daily Devotional Outline for June 10th.
In our devotional yesterday, we emphasised that every biblical faith must have a corresponding action to back it up. Faith is active and not passive.

Faith without works is dead (James 2:26). The works being referred to here are not works that spring forth from the energy of the flesh or striving to live by the Old Testament religious rituals as contained in the Mosaic law. The Bible says “Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight…” (Rom. 3:20).

God, our Father, is a God of faith. He demonstrates His faith by right actions. Through His eyes of faith, He conceived the creation of the universe but He did not stop there. He backed it up with actions.

Beloved, if you claim to be a believer in Christ Jesus and you have faith in God, then all your actions and activities must prove it. Let your life and actions prove your faith in God. If you don’t back up your faith with actions, then your faith is dead. MFM Daily Devotional 10 June 2021 Thursday – Faith Without Works (II)

Any faith that is bereft of works is useless. Men of faith are men of action. Your relationship with God grows stronger daily as you put your faith into action. Desist from being a mere talker but be a committed doer of the things you believe and profess.

The godly men and women in the Biblical Hall of Fame as recorded in Hebrews Chapter Eleven backed up their faith with relevant actions. In their audacity of faith, they acted: they subdued kingdoms; wrought righteousness; obtained promises; stopped the mouths of lions; quenched the violence of fire, waxed valiant in war; turned to flight the armies of aliens (Heb. 11:33-34).

Therefore, if you don’t put your faith into action, it gets dormant, stagnant and fruitless. Are you trusting God for the fruit of the womb? Go and buy baby things. Activate your faith by works. Then your life will never remain the same, in Jesus’ name.

Memory Verse: Hebrews 11:31 – By faith the harlot Rahab perished not with them that believed not, when she had received the spies with peace.

Motivational Quote: Faith bereft of works is dormant!

Prophetic Word: As you engage your faith, may you experience life-transforming and destiny changing results, in the name of Jesus.

HYMN: My faith has found a resting place

Verse 1.
My faith has found a resting place
Not in device or creed:
I trust the Everliving
One His wounds for me shall plead.

Chorus
I need no other argument,
I need no other plea;
It is enough that Jesus died,
And that He died for me.

Verse 2.
Enough for me that Jesus saves
This ends my fear and doubt;
A sinful soul I come to Him
He’ll never cast me out.

Verse 3.
My heart is leaning on the Word
The written Word of God:
Salvation by my Savior’s name
Salvation thru His blood.

Verse 4.
My great Physician heals the sick
The lost He came to save;
For me His precious blood
He shed For me His life He gave.
