TOPIC: Discipline Your Thoughts, Discipline Your Life (II)

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Psalms 96; Psalms 97; Psalms 98; Ephesians 5; Ephesians 6

FIRE SCRIPTURE: Philippians 4:6-9
Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

MEMORY VERSE
…but I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.
1 Corinthians 9:27

PROPHETIC WORD FOR TODAY: I decree wholeness upon your life, body, soul and spirit in the name of Jesus.

MFM Daily Devotional 10 July 2024 MESSAGE

Yesterday, we emphasized that your life will be wholesome when you discipline your thoughts and bring it in line with God’s word. We will continue that discourse today.

As humans, we enjoy self-pampering and tend to ignore the important areas of our lives that should be addressed. But with the Holy Spirit, you are sure to get good results.

How do you discipline your thoughts? You start by being a true child of God, genuinely born again, and a friend of the Holy Spirit. Secondly, you must determine to put to death the flesh in you. That is, ensuring brokenness in every area of your life, is crucial to your spiritual growth and maturity.

The ability to exercise the fruit of the Spirit, especially self-control will help you go a long way in your Christian journey. It will make you humble enough to see your deficiencies and to work on them without any excuse or murmuring.

READ MFM Daily Devotional 9 July 2024 – Discipline Your Thoughts, Discipline Your Life

You must develop a passion for reading your Bible regularly and meditate on what you read. Also, search the scriptures to discover what is written concerning the mind, and how to tame a riotous mind and thoughts, bringing them to subjection under the Lordship of Jesus(2 Cor. 10:5).

It will be profitable to take your Bible now, and do a practical lesson. Do your thoughts align with the eight areas listed in Philippians 4:8? Let us note them: “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”

If your thoughts do not, there is work to do. You need to pray fervently against mind pollution and the demons involved. Filter your thoughts and evacuate its negative ]contents. Guard your mind jealously with the word of God and prayers, and develop a mind like Christ’s as in Phil. 2:5. Finally, ensure that you are watchful enough to keep negative thoughts away from your mind as soon as they come.
