Topic: You Have All the Strength You Need

SCRIPTURE: I can do all things through him who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13 (ESV)

Joyce Meyer Daily Devotional 13 February 2022 MESSAGE

When your soul has been wounded, you do not always feel strong and capable. In fact, the opposite often happens. You feel weak. You aren’t confident, and you can be easily intimidated. Instead of facing our challenges with courage, you would like to run and hide from them.

None of this reflects the truth of who we are in Christ. The truth is that we have all of God’s strength available to us all the time. We may feel weak in ourselves, but God’s strength proves itself most effective when we lean and rely completely on Him. The key to strength is not working harder or trying to act strong when you are crumbling inside. It is in surrendering your heart to God and trusting Him.

Churches today are filled with people who know God. They are saved; they believe God is their Father, and they confess Jesus as Lord. But some of them do not know God as their source of strength. These believers are missing out on one of God’s great gifts—His ability to strengthen, encourage, and empower us when we feel weak.

The apostle Paul must have felt weak at times because he wrote several verses about God’s strength including today’s scripture, Philippians 4:13. We know that he struggled with some type of thorn in the flesh (2 Cor. 12:7 AMP) that bothered him. He wanted God to take it away, but instead, God promised to give him the strength to endure it, saying, My strength and power are made perfect (fulfilled and completed) and show themselves most effective in [your] weakness (2 Cor. 12:9 AMPC).

It is understandable that you could feel weak when you have been deeply hurt in your soul. As God heals your soul, there will be times when you think you simply are not strong enough to confront or deal with the things that need to be dealt with. Naturally speaking, that is true. But you do not have to live according to natural reality. As a believer, you can live by spiritual truth. And the truth is that through the Holy Spirit, God will give you supernatural strength. He will make you strong to do the things you need to do in life and to fully walk the journey of healing that He is leading you on.

The way you see yourself is the way you will be. If you view yourself as weak, you will approach the situations you face in life from a position of weakness and insecurity. But God wants you to approach everything from your position of strength in Him. Begin to see yourself as strong because you are in Christ, and He is stronger than anyone or anything. You can draw strength from Him anytime you need it.

Prayer Starter: Gracious God, thank You for giving me strength to face life from the position of strength through you, amen.
