worship leader/songwriter Jena Brancart releases the new anthem entitled “Fighting For My Soul” for people across the globe to look to as a prayer in the midst of a challenge.
Though the song was predominately inspired by personal life events and not directly taken from Psalm 91, a lot of the lyrics of the song embody its verses. Brancart has always been drawn to this Psalm as a go-to piece of Scripture when she’s hit with the fear of sudden disaster.
“‘Fighting For My Soul’ is a confident declaration of trust and faith in God — embracing the reality that we already live from a place of victory in Him and reminding the soul that He’s authored our future, and therefore, we can rest secure,” Brancart said.
The song was co-written and produced by Gabriel Wilson whose producing credits include artists like Bethel Music (“Tides,” “You Make Me Brave”), John Mark McMillan (“Mercury & Lightning”), Martin Smith (“Iron Lung”), and Lindy Cofer & Circuit Rider Music (“Every Nation”). Both Wilson and Brancart see the value in this piece, hoping to get these beautiful lyrics out to as many ears as possible:
Written in the middle of a season of emotional exhaustion, Brancart hopes this song will fill up the souls of other listeners who feel empty.
