Scripture Reading: 1 Samuel 30: 1-8
30 And it came to pass, when David and his men were come to Ziklag on the third day, that the Amalekites had invaded the south, and Ziklag, and smitten Ziklag, and burned it with fire;
2 And had taken the women captives, that were therein: they slew not any, either great or small, but carried them away, and went on their way.
3 So David and his men came to the city, and, behold, it was burned with fire; and their wives, and their sons, and their daughters, were taken captives.
4 Then David and the people that were with him lifted up their voice and wept, until they had no more power to weep.
5 And David’s two wives were taken captives, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the wife of Nabal the Carmelite.
6 And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the Lord his God.
7 And David said to Abiathar the priest, Ahimelech’s son, I pray thee, bring me hither the ephod. And Abiathar brought thither the ephod to David.
8 And David enquired at the Lord, saying, Shall I pursue after this troop? shall I overtake them? And he answered him, Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all.
THE MESSAGE:
Today’s devotional tells us that bad things don’t happen to us because we are bad people. Too, to fail doesn’t mean we are failures. There is grace called GRACE FOR COME BACK.
David didn’t go for his own assignment, neither did he get involved in what didn’t please God; that the bad things that happened to him could mean that he was a bad person.
If we don’t have an accurate understanding that bad things happen to the RIGHTOUS because the RIGHTOUS is in the WICKED world, and that bad things will not pass away with the RIGHTOUS, we will be deceived to think that God doesn’t love us, or is not mindful of us. God is always with the RIGHTOUS in both bad and good seasons. The RIGHTOUS always come out better Christians.
Your comeback doesn’t depend on others, but it depends on your understanding that with God, all things are possible. David’s aides were thinking of stoning David. Your best friends can leave you during your worst seasons. The greatest test of a Christian’s maturity is how he handles crisis, especially when his best friends FORSAKE him.
Your support system is suitably tested during adversity. How loyal your friends are is tested during crisis..Those who stand with you in your crisis seasons are burden bearers. Be wise not to throw away your burden bearers, even if they were to make MISTAKES. Handle their mistakes with wisdom. Never allow people that have not been with you for long time ; who have just come into your life, to judge those that had been with you and endured with you. Let them prove themselves worthy before they can find faults with your trusted allies. Satan can use agents, who claim fake loyalty, to scatter your MINISTERIAL team. Watch out!
The surest way to stage a comeback is to encourage yourself in the Lord. Definitely, people will write you off, but God will never write you off. When the devil thinks he is through with you, that is the moment God begins with you.
When God is with you, and you are with Him, He will teach you the secrets of victory. He will right your wrongs and become your sufficiency. Where there were deficiencies, He steps in and fill the gap. The mistakes you made that gave the devil the upper hand are now CORRECTED.
Nobody can stage a comeback without God helping him. Never stage a comeback without God backing you. Ask Him questions where things went wrong. Gather yourself and be focussed. Get energized in the spirit. Be in the high hopes and spirit, and God will give your enemies into your hand in September.
I prophesy,” Where you failed in the previous months, and they mocked you that you are finished, I can authoritatively tell you that you are recovering and taking back lost territories in Jesus Christ’s name, AMEN”.
