TOPIC: Where Has God Wronged You?

TEXT:  Micah 6:1-5 (KJV)
Hear ye now what the Lord saith; Arise, contend thou before the mountains, and let the hills hear thy voice.

Hear ye, O mountains, the Lord‘s controversy, and ye strong foundations of the earth: for the Lord hath a controversy with his people, and he will plead with Israel.

O my people, what have I done unto thee? and wherein have I wearied thee? testify against me.

For I brought thee up out of the land of Egypt, and redeemed thee out of the house of servants; and I sent before thee Moses, Aaron, and Miriam.

O my people, remember now what Balak king of Moab consulted, and what Balaam the son of Beor answered him from Shittim unto Gilgal; that ye may know the righteousness of the Lord.

KEY VERSE
“O my people, what have I done unto thee? and wherein have I wearied thee? testify against me.”
(Micah 6:3)

DCLM Daily Manna Wednesday 24 May 2023 MESSAGE

When people become dissatisfied and feel cheated or oppressed, it tells on their behaviour and actions. Rebellion, protests and civic disobedience are clear indications that people feel cheated and wish to register their displeasure through such actions. We find this in the home, in organisations (between employees and employers) and the society at large (between the governed and their leaders).

God was surprised at the reaction of the people of Israel towards Him despite all the good He had done for them all through their history. In today’s text, He asks them to point out where He has failed them and how He has wronged them. He wanted to know what He has done to warrant their unfaithful conduct and resistance of Him and His ways, which are really for their good. He goes on to give a catalogue of all the good He has done for them throughout their history.

The same query comes to every unfaithful Christian today. What has God done to warrant your shallow commitment, flagrant disregard and wanton disobedience to Him? What can you point to that He has maliciously done against you? All His actions and answered prayers are His acts of mercy and goodness. If you can thoughtfully and sincerely recall and reflect on all of His goodness in your life, you will see that you have been very unfair in your actions towards God in not truly reciprocating His goodness and kindness.

You need to have a change of mind. To appreciate God truly is to love Him dearly in return, submit to His will without questioning and obey Him in all things and at all times.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: The proof of your submission to God is your obedience to His word.
