Jeremy Taylor, an English clergyman, once said, “In dwelling on divine mysteries, keep your heart humble, your thoughts reverent, your soul holy. Let not philosophy be ashamed to be confuted, nor logic to be confounded, nor reason to be surpassed. What you cannot prove, approve; what you cannot comprehend, believe, what you can believe, admire and love and obey.
So shall your ignorance be satisfied in your faith, and your doubt be swallowed up in your reverence, and your faith be as influential as sight”. Our text speaks of Moses’ exhibition of faith in the living God to face hardship with his people when he could have enjoyed the privilege of being the adopted son of Pharaoh’s daughter.

He esteemed the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt. Moses forsook Pharaoh and Egypt because he saw the invisible God who could do anything and esteemed His rewards greater than what Egypt could offer. Faith is central to human existence. It is belief and trust in something or someone. Everyone, believer or not, possesses faith. Let us consider some practical examples. You sit on a chair because you believe it will carry you.
You also board a bus driven by an unknown driver because you believe he will not run into another motorist the very next minute. We could go on and on to prove that we all live by instinctive faith. It is established that the Christian walk commences with faith. Faith is totally essential for the sinner’s conversion to Christ. “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God” (Ephesians 2:8). Decisive faith involves voluntarily and courageously trusting the Lord, living in total self-denial like Moses and living to please Him in all areas.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Courageously walking with Christ is the walk of faith.
