Throughout human history, fear has been one of the most powerful instruments of controlling the mind and psyche of people. Whether real or imagined, fear holds many in bondage and has succeeded in reducing or entirely stifling their potential. Fear paralyses initiatives, making one numb and lose every sense of proper thinking and reasoning, thereby, succumbing to bondage. Fear, indeed, has torment.
God does not want His children to be enslaved by fear. This is why He encourages His people through Prophet Isaiah not to fear or be dismayed. In this passage, He assures His people of His help, support and ever-abiding presence. All those who come up against His people will be defeated and put to shame.

The dominant weapon of psychological warfare by man and governments worldwide is fear. There are concerns about the economy, environments, climate change, nuclear war, civil wars, genocides, rising population and food insecurity, natural disasters and pandemic among others. There is also apprehension that the low-level conflicts dotting the regions of the planet might degenerate into a full-circle nuclear inferno if two superpowers clash in the melee.
In the midst of all these, God assures, “Fear thou not; for I am with thee”. Three keys required to deal with fear and enjoy real peace are, first, fret not because God loves you; second, faint not because God holds you; and third, fear not because God keeps you. In all situations, He is present and will always be there throughout life. Believers must rest assured of this fact and see that they always abide in the shelter of His wings. As you face today’s and future challenges, remember, fear not!
