DCLM Daily Manna Friday, August 12, 2022 OUTLINE
The tragedy of the modern age is its concept of man’s self-sufficiency that makes him believe solely in his works. He arrays his technological feats and dreams of even more ambitious attempts at higher prospects. Man’s reverie of blessings and prosperity outside his Creator leads him to start a project of producing an elixir of life, to live forever.
Prosperity and success come from God alone. Instructing His servant, Moses, God reveals the unique type of petition from the children of Israel that would get His attention. First, the prayer must be offered by the truly dedicated messengers of God. Second, the demands must be presented to God. Third, the benediction sought must be for His children. Finally, the name of the Lord must be honoured as the chief requirement for answers to requests.
One of the Lord’s greatest gifts to man is the access to heaven through supplication. When in deep water, we earnestly call upon the Lord and He delivers us. Every genuine believer is a priest who can ask for heaven’s support, supply and succour. While a sinner can pray, he cannot enjoy all the virtues, riches and power of heaven except he or she pleads for the forgiveness of sin and salvation.
It is the desire of the Lord that we depend upon Him in prayer for His blessings. He has raised up His Church as the salt and light of the world to pray for the lost in this perilous end time. He desires that we ask of Him, spiritual and physical blessings so that those around us would also acknowledge Him as a loving Father who meets the needs of His children who honour Him.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
Blessings come from God through the prayer of faith.
