TOPIC: The glory Is The Lord’s

TEXTJohn 12:12-22
12 On the next day much people that were come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,

13 Took branches of palm trees, and went forth to meet him, and cried, Hosanna: Blessed is the King of Israel that cometh in the name of the Lord.

14 And Jesus, when he had found a young ass, sat thereon; as it is written,

15 Fear not, daughter of Sion: behold, thy King cometh, sitting on an ass’s colt.

16 These things understood not his disciples at the first: but when Jesus was glorified, then remembered they that these things were written of him, and that they had done these things unto him.

17 The people therefore that was with him when he called Lazarus out of his grave, and raised him from the dead, bare record.

18 For this cause the people also met him, for that they heard that he had done this miracle.

19 The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, Perceive ye how ye prevail nothing? behold, the world is gone after him.

20 And there were certain Greeks among them that came up to worship at the feast:

21 The same came therefore to Philip, which was of Bethsaida of Galilee, and desired him, saying, Sir, we would see Jesus.

22 Philip cometh and telleth Andrew: and again Andrew and Philip tell Jesus.

DCLM Daily Manna 8th November 2021 MESSAGE:

Has anyone ever focused on the never-saddled donkey Jesus rode upon into Jerusalem on his triumphant entry? The donkey’s glory ended immediately Jesus climbed out of it. It became just an ordinary donkey again. If she is ever ridden upon again to the same city by another person, she may wonder within herself and complain at the reception in this manner: “Here am I coming into Jerusalem, and no one seems to notice. A few days ago when I carried the Messiah, all attention was on me; they spread out their clothes and strewed leaves from trees for me to march upon. But now, I am as ordinary as any other donkey in town.”

From the text, Jesus rode triumphantly into the city of Jerusalem sitting on a young donkey. He was the centre of attraction and unto Him the people gathered because He is the King of Israel, the High Priest of our profession, our Prophet and Messiah. The people sang and shouted in praises unto Him, spread out their clothes, cut down tree branches and strewed them on the path, giving Him a VIP treatment. But the Pharisees were grieved because all the praises went to the Master. The foreigners who were in Israel during this event drew near and demanded to see Jesus.

We learn a number of lessons from this event. First, we must not seek the attention and glory that should go to others; we must patiently wait for our time. The ass that conveyed Jesus into the city of Jerusalem was given the kind of regard and attention he had because of whom he was carrying. The glory truly is not ours but His.

Therefore, we must realise that we are created for a purpose – to reflect His glory. We ought, therefore, to honour Him with all our being and belongings.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
Without Christ, we are nothing.
