Haunting melodies and ethereal vocals: all sibling, award-winning folk band The Meadows’ new single ‘Where Will it Lead?‘ has just been released.

The trio based in the beautiful Welsh countryside comprises multi-instrumentalist sisters Melody, Fantasia and Titania. Incorporating a mixture of rich textures and poetic lyrics, their haunting folk-inspired music takes the listener on a captivating journey.

Their new song written by Fantasia explores themes of restlessness, self-discovery and faith. With layers of vocal harmonies, whistle, and piano and featuring their brother Harvey on violin (former member of the band) and Ryan Aston on drums (Imelda May, James Arthur, Lighthouse Family). The song is set to premiere on national and international radio stations.

The mesmerising atmosphere of the song has been brought to the screen with a stunning music video by Rhys Davies of Furball Films, capturing the evocative themes and restless nature. It was filmed in Whitland and Tenby, including the use, of the beautiful old lifeboat. The narrative of the video was partially inspired by a true story of their great-great-grandparents’ elopement. “It was a magical day to be out on the boat, and Rhys did an amazing job as always of capturing the atmosphere of the song, really bringing it to life,” commented Melody.

Lyrics The Meadows ‘Where Will it Lead?’

Like winter without snow
A light ever hidden
Or shading in all the colours
Can’t be hemmed in
It could last forever
Like a long starless night
Bridge:
What is this now?
This farsickness growing
Got to see though our own eyes
It’s not for others to decide
Chorus:
If we’re seeking
Running through that door
If we’re reaching
What is it for?
All these questions spinning
If there’s a reason
We’ll want it more
If we’re searching
That’s what faith is for
If we ask where will it lead?
Where will it lead?
Where will it lead?
Distant journeys we walk them in our minds so vividly
After the chill of night the cold lifts with the soft sunrise
Until it all seems clear
