MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE: Your marriage can either make or mar you. To be casual with one’s marriage is to be casual with one’s destiny. Be wise!

PRAISE AND WORSHIP: Take praise and worship songs as led by the Holy Spirit.

PROPHETIC WORD FOR TODAY: I decree upon your life, you will not marry your enemy, in the name of Jesus.

MFM Daily Devotional 25 March 2025 Message

Another thing to avoid in the life of Esau is his carelessness regarding the issue of marriage. He chose to marry outside the will of God. He chose his wives casually. In our memory verse, Abraham had warned Eliezer not to take any wife for Isaac from among the Canaanites. He told him to go to his kindred. Abraham understood the power and covenant of marriage too well and he never wanted to take chances on the marital life of Isaac. He had to make his servant swear to an oath and also send him to his kindred to get a wife for Isaac.

There are certain covenants that will not be fulfilled with wrong marriage. Even if you have a prophecy over your head, you must seek to marry right so that the cord of the covenant could continue to flow. Once you marry out of God’s will, the covenant is disrupted. In Malachi 2:15, God said He is seeking godly seeds from our unions and as such, we can’t afford to mingle with aliens in marriage as that would only result in perverted seeds.

Esau seems to be oblivious of this fact about matrimony and then went further to marry strange daughters which were a grief of mind unto Isaac and to Rebekah (Genesis 26:34-35). May our marriages never cause God a grief of mind. May our marriages never ruin our destinies, in Jesus’ name.

Dear singles, I want to implore you to involve God fully in your marriage. Don’t you dare go without God in choosing a life partner because the path of marriage is a path you have never walked before? You need the One who knows the end from the beginning to guide you right. Listen to God, hear Him well before you say “I do.” Also, listen to godly counsel. Be accountable to godly authorities who can guide you. I can assure you that you can never go wrong with God. Let God be the driver of your marriage.

A lot of marriages are bleeding now simply because they ignored God when choosing life partners and the devil arranged his spouses for them. Some say “Had I known” because they chose to go through the back door.

As a Christian, you cannot just marry anybody anyhow. God ordains a man or woman to fulfil the destiny God has earmarked for you. We need to be careful. May you not marry your enemy in the name of Jesus.

Esau knew the covenant that runs in his lineage and the marriage pattern they should have but he still chose to go the way of the heathen. You cannot carry an eagle destiny and then be mingling with chicken in marriage. It will not work.
