BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Numbers 7:66-89, Numbers 8, 9:1-14, Luke 2:41-52, Psalm 35:11-18
FIRE SCRIPTURE: 2 Peter 1:5-11
5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;
7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
9 But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.
10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give the diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:
11 For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
MFM Daily Devotional 19 March 2022 MESSAGE
We have established the fact the fruit of the Spirit is indispensable in the life of a Christian that desires to grow into maturity in Christ.
It is equally important to state that it is our express identification document to enter heaven. In case you are surprised, read again and ponder deeply on our Fire Scripture especially verses 10 and 11. Both speak on our spiritual growth and maturity, and finally a glorious entry into heaven.
This clearly tells us that what qualifies a Christian as a heavenly candidate is not the volume of spiritual activities but the amount of Christlikeness in him. It takes this spiritual resemblance of Christ for a believer to enter into heaven. These godly virtues must be actively developed in our lives.
It then goes to confirm the fact that lack of the fruit of the Spirit would make one to lose eternity in heaven. Why? No entry shall be provided for such a person into the kingdom of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
Interesting but scary, you will agree with me that this is the truth about our Christian life, “Christ in me the Hope of glory.” If heaven demands this much, my question, therefore, is: “How much of Christ is in you?” Have you cultivated and are still cultivating more of the fruit of the Spirit?
Once is not enough to claim it. The components of this fruit should evidently manifest in every area of your life: your thoughts, words and actions as well as in your relationships and all your endeavours. It is the manifestation of God’s presence in your life. It is an obvious reflection of Christ in you: His Nature, Personality and Character. You cannot claim to be His child yet differ in nature.
It is time you sat down and do a reflection over your spiritual life. Are you just doing the work of God without any attribute of the Owner of the work in you? Do you hear, even teach the word but you are not a doer? That is dangerous! The Bible implores us to be “Doers and not just Hearers” (James 1:21-25) Without much ado, it is required of you and me to possess and live according to these godly virtues if we must indeed become candidates of heaven.
