TOPIC: Confess, Believe and Be Saved
TEXT: Romans 10:8-13 (NKJV)
8. But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach):
9. that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
10. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
11. For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.”
12. For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him.
13. For “whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.”
Anglican Daily Fountain Devotional 20 February 2022 STUDY
Our reading today focuses on how one can be saved. The ear hears the word, the mouth confesses and the heart believes it. The issue of salvation has been a long-term argument in the society. Its simplicity beats everyone’s imagination (v.8)
Deuteronomy 30:14 states that “the word is near you, even in your mouth and in your heart.” Mouth and heart are essential ingredients needed to link our lives to Jesus. Salvation is obtained through confession of the Lord Jesus with the mouth and believing in the heart that God raised Him from the dead (v.9). Matthew 10:32-33 also reminds us that we need to confess Jesus before men and not to deny Him.
Belief in the heart leads one to righteousness (v.10). This belief on Jesus frees one from shame (v.11). The word of faith has been lacking in many lives and places today. What are you confessing or believing on a daily basis? Is it what your Pastor says or the word of God?
Belief and faith emerge from the condition of the heart which is made to be transformed, regenerated and redeemed. Belief and faith will bring you into the realms of forgiveness and freedom from sin.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, I will confess and believe you all my life because you promised that as many as come unto you, you ill in no wise cast away.
